Today on the podcast, I’m gonna talk to you about something a bit spicy, a bit uncomfortable, and something that just might make you squirm because today my friend, we are talking about radical responsibility. Before you click away from this episode of the podcast, stay with me because this just might be the most powerful concept I’ve learned in business and in life.
So what exactly is radical responsibility? Radical responsibility means taking full ownership of everything in your business and life, even the stuff that technically is not your fault. This is not about blame, it’s about power. Because when you take radical responsibility, you stop blaming everyone else.
You stop waiting for someone to come along and save you. You stop pointing your fingers at the economy, your clients, your coach, your kids, your partner, et cetera, et cetera. You actually start to say, if I don’t like something in my life, I get to change it.
Radical responsibility is particularly relevant when it comes to your business success and wealth creation. Because if you aren’t making the money that you want, radical responsibility says, where am I not showing up for my finances? How am I not staying across my money? If you aren’t attracting more clients, radical responsibility says, how clear is my offer? How consistent is my marketing? Rather than blame the algorithm, what do I need to do differently? Maybe you are undercharging and radical responsibility says, well, you set your prices. If you’re resenting them, change them. The concept of radical responsibility isn’t about guilt tripping.
It’s about empowerment. What happens is that you shift from why is this happening to me? To this is happening to me, and how can I change how I’m responding? And when you do, your whole world opens up. Let’s start by thinking specifically in the space of money and being in victim mode around money. So you might have your money stories like, I’m not good with money.
I never have enough time. I can’t afford to invest right now. And basically what you’re doing is you’re giving the steering wheel to fear. Radical responsibility sounds like I haven’t figured this out yet, but I’m willing to… whatever that might be. It’s like I make time, like if you’re saying I don’t have enough time.
I spoke to you about this on a couple of podcast episodes ago about how I was in a real victim mode around my time, how I didn’t have enough time to be dedicating to growth in my business. And what I was doing, I was giving away all of my power. It’s funny how like sometimes you say, I don’t have time for this, and yet we seem to find time for other things, so I don’t have enough time to reach out to potential clients, but I somehow have hours to be scrolling on Instagram.
If you really wanna create a new result, you really have to ask yourself, if I can’t change certain factors, what can I do? What can I control? How can I take responsibility in this situation? If I really wanted to hire the team member or the coach or join the course or whatever it might be, how can I find the money?
It’s incredible how when we actually put this challenge to our brain, it can set about resolving it. There are a lot of areas in my own life that I’ve had to swallow the radical responsibility pill. In the era of parenting, losing weight after to my second baby, my marriage, my business, my perimenopause journey, and my car accident years ago, it’s human nature to want to blame literally everyone else and everything else.
it’s ’cause of the economy, it’s ’cause of the algorithm.
When you do that, you are giving your power away. And like I said earlier, it’s not about saying that, you know, things aren’t unfair. Like there is a lot of inequity. There are very real things that are going on. The economy is changing. It’s not about saying that there aren’t these things going on, it’s just taking back the power to control the things that you can control.
When you actually do that and recognize that you do have the power to create change, this shift can change everything. Radical responsibility looks like fricking doing something about the thing that you want to change. And to keep on going, even if you’re trying things and it’s not working. We don’t just go, oh, well, I tried to fix my parenting relationship and it’s just all too hard, so forget about it.
We’re just gonna have to live in a disharmonic, disharmonious household. You keep going. You keep trying new things until you create the outcome that is you want. So some examples of what this might look like. Hiring the coach. Trying a new eating plan, investing in a therapist, seeing a doctor, and refusing to stop until you get to where you want to be.
Like I said, radical responsibility isn’t about beating yourself up. It’s not saying this is all your fault. It’s more about saying you are powerful and you’re capable. And you can create something better. It’s loving and it’s supportive, and that’s the best damn gift you can give yourself. So here’s your invitation this week. I want you to grab some pen and paper, and I want you to have a look at your business, at your money situation. And if it’s not where you want it to be, I want you to ask yourself, what would radical responsibility say about this? If I was to be in a place of my real personal power, what would I do?
And if you are ready to take on more responsibility, not just for your mindset, but also when it comes to your money. I wanna invite you to check out the Profit Collective. This exclusive container is for minimum six, multi six figure business owners who are wanting to scale to the seven figure mark. And this community is where you really learn to grow your profit and finally feel like the confident CEO that you are born to be.
We have online mentoring sessions. We have an accountability buddy. We have in-person retreats. I’m in the middle of planning our next retreat in November, which I’m incredibly excited about. So if this feels like it might be your next step in the area of radical responsibility, working with a mentor surrounding yourself with a high level peer group.
The link to find out more is in the show notes for today’s episode. And if this container isn’t the right fit for you right now, there must be another area of your business or life that needs some attention and needs you to step into your space of radical responsibility. So today, I’d love to invite you to do that.
Thanks for joining me for today’s episode of the podcast. I’ll chat to you again next week.
