Money is one of those things that people know they should be on top of, but most people are just winging it and hoping for the best. And look, I get it, life is busy. You’ve got work, social life, trying to stay fit and healthy. A million different tabs opening your brain at any given time. So sitting down to look at your finances might not exactly scream Friday night Fun.

But here’s the thing, money doesn’t get easier by ignoring it. In fact, the longer you avoid it, the heavier and more stressful it feels. It’s like a little annoying voice in the background saying, hello, please give me attention. So today I wanna walk you through five signs that it is time to actually work on your money. ASAP.

Just a quick note before we dive in. Everything I share on this podcast is general in nature and does not take your personal circumstances into account. I’m not a licensed financial advisor, and nothing you hear on this podcast should be taken as personalized, financial, business, taxation or investment advice.

Before you make any financial decisions, please seek guidance from your accountant or a qualified licensed financial advisor who understands your specific situation.

Okay, sign number one, you don’t know your numbers, and I don’t mean roughly, vaguely yeah. I think that I’ve got this much here and that much there. Actually know how much money you’ve got, like what your net worth is, and really having a clear handle on what your household earns each month and what you spend.

Maybe you’ve got a view that you’re like, yeah, I think we’re okay. But realistically, you can’t make good financial decisions from a place of vagueness.

When you know your numbers clearly, you can make decisions and feel much more in control. You stop guessing and you start actually driving your financial future.

So right now if you don’t know your numbers, your money is basically running the show, not you.

Sign number two, you don’t have a clear plan for your wealth. Okay, this is where I see a lot of people just drifting. They’re earning money, spending money, maybe saving a little bit, here and there, but there’s no actual direction or clear wealth strategy. So I’m gonna ask you right now, what are you actually working towards?

Do you wanna be debt free, build a share portfolio, invest in properties? Do you wanna retire early or  take a holiday?

If you don’t have a plan, it’s really easy for your money to just get absorbed into everyday life.

And suddenly you look up five years from now and go wait, where did it all go? Sign number three. You avoid your money. I’m gonna ask you now, be honest with yourself. Do you feel a little knot in your tummy when you think about logging into your bank accounts? Do you put off opening bills, which has got a upcoming bill or a statement?

Do you keep telling yourself, I’ll deal with it, lady? Yeah, I’m gonna sit down and get across my money. But later never comes.

That stress, anxiety, and overwhelm is caused by that avoidance because not looking, it feels good in the short term, but that’s what causes chaos in the long term.

And here’s what I see. When I sit down with my clients and they actually face their money, they feel so much better. It’s that shift into, okay, I can actually do this.

Sign number four, that money is causing tension in your household. Money is one of the biggest things that couples argue about, and it could be something that maybe you argue about or you avoid talking about, or. Maybe you do talk about it, but you feel completely misaligned with your partner. If that’s you, this is a sign because money is about so much.

It affects so many different areas. Your life choices, where you go on holidays, the kind of home that you live in, it’s about security and value and freedom. It affects so many different areas of your life.

So if you are not on the same page as your significant other, yeah, it’s gonna cause arguments.

Maybe in your relationship dynamic. One person wants to spend and the other wants to save. But a lot of people aren’t even putting consciousness into these thoughts or these values. But something that you find is that when you get on the same page with money and your future goals, decisions become easier.

You’re working towards the same things and you start to feel like a team again. All right, sign number five. You need to work on your money. ASAP. Is that you are earning good money, but you’ve got nothing to show for it. So you’ve got a good income, maybe you even have a great income, but somehow. It feels like there’s not much left at the end of each month.

Maybe you are not even getting ahead financially, or maybe your savings and investments just aren’t happening at the speed that you hope. You are working so hard, but when you look at your bank account, the results just aren’t reflected there. And if you are earning good money. This is probably not an income issue.

It’s a money management problem. Because it doesn’t matter how much you earn, if you don’t have a system for your money, it will disappear. Trust me, I’ve worked with people earning all kinds of income levels and money problems don’t go away on their own.

So if you’re listening to this. You’re thinking, gosh, I feel personally attacked right now.

This feels like me. This is your moment because awareness is the first step in change. And I want you to really hear this, getting on top of your money is not about restriction and never having any money to spend. It’s simply about making decisions with confidence instead of that background stress that feels like it’s always buzzing away there.

If you know that this is something you need to work on, don’t just nod along and then go back to normal life ignoring it. Actually do something about it. I think this is a good time to mention the Intentional Money membership because this is exactly what we do inside. We take all of this, your numbers, your money, habits, your mindset, and we turn it into something clear, simple, and actually doable.

And this is what I’ve seen inside the membership. My members save hundreds, even thousands of dollars just by making a few simple changes, not by earning more, just by getting intentional.
