If someone was to ask you how the first six months of your year has gone in business, what would you objectively say? If your numbers haven’t been exactly where you want them to be, don’t worry. There is still plenty of time left in the year to turn that ship around. But here’s the thing, you can’t get different outcomes if you aren’t willing to do things differently.

Let’s dive into the decisions that you need to make if you wanna change the trajectory of your 2026. The first decision is, am I actually ready to change? Do I want a different outcome? Because this is the first thing that you really need to decide. Am I done with the way that things are tracking, and am I ready to do things differently?

That has to be the first decision that you make.

The next decision to make, do I need to get some help to know what to actually do differently? This is where a lot of smart business owners get stuck. Let’s face it, we can’t see our own blind spots. And this is exactly why people hire me as their coach. It’s exactly why I hire a coach for myself.

When I’m working with a business owner, my job is to come in and look at your business objectively from the outside in and show you what you can’t see. So an example, a client I was working with just this morning. I read through her landing page copy. So that’s the page where people go to actually buy her thing, and I could see so many gaps, so many places where she’d be losing potential clients.

It wasn’t a seamless, easy process, and the messaging wasn’t quite nailing it. So w- the work that we did together, I helped her to shift to the focus of the landing page to her client pain points, the transformation that happens inside her offering, and what we also focused on was the practical element of making the purchasing journey so much clearer and easier.

There’s a saying, “A confused mind doesn’t buy.” And so I was really helping her to look at the messaging, look at the customer journey, and to make it so much smoother. We already did this on one of her product offerings, and she made so many sales since she went through and changed the page.

We already did this on one of her sales pages and as soon as we did, she made so many more sales. Often it’s the tiny nuances, it’s the little tweaks in the customer experience or in the way that the marketing is presented that make all the difference to whether somebody buys or not. But when it’s your own business, it’s so hard to see that.

You’re too close to it. So if you don’t know what to do next, if you’re like, “I don’t know why people aren’t buying from me. I don’t know where I’m stuck. I don’t know why my profit is where it is.” The question becomes, do you need to invest in support from a coach or mentor who can actually help you see what you can’t see and tell you what to do next?

Decision number three. How much am I willing and able to invest to create change? Now, this is a big one, and maybe you needed to make this decision before decision two about getting a mentor or some help from the outside. Because when you are on a journey.

Decision number three. How much time and money am I willing to invest to get a new outcome? Now, this is a big one because a lot of times people say, “I want a different outcome. I wanna level up my income. I wanna level up my profit.” But they think that they can just keep doing things the way that they’ve always done it and hoping for a different outcome.

Look, creating change means doing things differently. And you really need to think about am I willing, am I  able to invest at this point in time? If you don’t change anything, you will likely keep creating the same outcomes you’ve been creating all along. And when it comes to investing in your business, there are usually three key areas that I would focus on to start.

Number one, mentorship. Actually getting clarity around where you’re going and getting accountability to stay on track. Number two is marketing. Am I paying for new leads? Am I streamlining the process of conversion? Am I getting my message out there to the right people? And number three is team. Actually bringing in people to help you execute on the vision, to actually help you get things done.

Now, of course, there are a ton of other areas that you may choose to invest in. I work mostly with creatives and digital marketing agencies, and this is where I would say to start. And how much should you invest? I know this is something people ask me a lot of the time. People want a fixed percentage.

It should be 20% on your marketing. Look, this is my opinion. What this looks like will be different for every business. I believe you should always operate within your means, and what your means are is different for every business. I have some clients who, have a really big cash buffer, and they don’t need to be turning a profit every month.

I have other clients who absolutely don’t have the luxury of leaning heavily into hiring all the team and the marketing and doing all the things. So they have to do it bit by bit. Whatever your budget is or whatever your appetite for risk is going to be different for each of you. But you need to really understand, how much are you willing to lean in?

And how much are you willing to back yourself for the opportunity to create real growth?

Decision number four. Who do I need to be to create this change? A lot of people wanna create a different financial result without changing who they are being. They wanna keep doing what they’re doing but magically make more money. Look, if what you were doing before was going to work, it would have worked by now.

So something has to shift, and that means you are going to have to show up as the next level version of yourself. You might need to show up more in your marketing. You might need to email your list more often. You might need to lead and set boundaries with your clients more strongly. A lot of the work that I’m doing with my clients is around, you cannot be the people pleaser and expect to amplify your income if you’re spending all your time over-servicing your clients and delivering way too much beyond the scope of what they are paying you for.

You can’t be a strong and decisive leader if you are dead set on being everyone’s best mate in the team instead of making smart decisions to drive the business growth. You’re gonna have to be an up-leveled version of yourself to start to create these differences, to create this change in your business.

And that also is relevant to how you show up in, a coaching mentor relationship. I know for me, I’ve stuck my hand up and said, there’s been many times over the years where I have shown up to a mentorship relationship and I’ve not been willing to do the work for whatever reason. Maybe I was I was injured at the time or I just wasn’t in the right head space.

But I know now that I need to take accountability. I need to do the things that are on my action list. I need to be decisive. I need to be confident. I need to show up in my marketing, and growth comes from that discomfort. You have to embody a new level of you to step into your next level of growth

So the four decisions to make. Number one, am I actually ready to create change? And number two, do I need some help to know what to actually do? Number three, how much am I willing to invest? And decision number four, who am I willing to become to create this change?

Here’s to making the second half of 2026 an amazing six months for you.
