In business it’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle of more, more, more… faster, faster, faster and sometimes we can lose sight of where we’re actually heading and why we’re even heading there.

And who we are.

And who we need to be, to be the person to achieve what we want for our business.

In today’s episode, I explore all of these things. We talk about uncovering your why, getting super clear on your vision and then thinking about what your superpower is, and how you can then get that out in the world and then attract those dream clients so you can move closer to that big dream you have for your business.

Let’s dive in!

You’re listening to the Clare Wood podcast, where we talk all things business, finance, marketing, and mindset for entrepreneurs, sharing practical tips, and actionable advice to help you take your business to the next level. Introducing your host: me! I’m Clare Wood, I’m a numbers geek, a travel lover, and a reality tv addict, and I’m here to empower you to create an extraordinary business and an amazing life, because I believe you don’t have to choose between the two. Now let’s dive right in to today’s episode.

What if? Uncovering your personal superpower.

So here we are at episode 50 and it feels so completely surreal to me that this is the 50th episode of the Clare Wood podcast! Honestly, I didn’t imagine in my wildest dreams that I would be recording this many episodes of the podcast and that it would still be so well received.

But today I’m doing things a little differently.

You may know that I normally huddle in my walk-in wardrobe to record episodes of the podcast and today I’ve decided to do things a bit differently. I’m actually sitting in my office with a different mike, I’ve got a candle lit here, I’ve got a glass of wine and again, normally I have really structured frameworks for the podcast episodes – I usually script out the episode, because I’ve always felt that I wanted to deliver you guys the best value, and I felt that having a really structured framework was the best way to do it.

But today I’ve decided for the 50th episode, I’m just going to sit here and ab-lib and talk to you guys… is it ab lib? I think ad-lib is what I meant to say. You might notice that there might be a few errors in this episode, but I’m just going to roll with it and talk to you guys from my heart and hopefully you enjoy it. I’d love to hear your feedback, if it works, if it doesn’t work but nonetheless I’m super grateful to have you listening today.

And I’ve been thinking a lot about what to talk about in this special episode, episode number 50, and what I’d like to talk about is something that I’ve been sharing in my program, you guys might have heard me talk about it before – The Makers Membership – and this week, we really started to connect with some of the big picture stuff and it’s so powerful and so exciting and I absolutely just loved seeing the faces of the members light up when they uncovered some of the lessons or the learnings in focussing in on your “why” and focussing in on where you’re heading. And getting super clear on what your purpose and your passion in business and in life is, and where you’re heading.

So this episode is all about, “what if?” and I want to start by encouraging you to stop for a moment and to think about where you want your business to be.

What does your business look like if there was just no limitations on what you could achieve?

Who would you be working with? What kind of things would you be doing every day? How many hours a day would you work? What kind of a difference would you be making in the world if there was literally no limit to what you could achieve?

Because here’s the thing guys.

You are in the drivers seat. This is why we started our own businesses. It’s because we really wanted to, we had some greater purpose, some reason that we wanted to do this.

And I know for me, I did an interview today and one of the questions she asked me, she said, “What’s the favourite part of your day?” and I said, “From the bottom of my heart, it’s coaching.” And I never knew what it felt like to have a real soul purpose from a career perspective in life before.

I, you know I’ve always been a hard worker. I’ve always enjoyed my work. But until I started coaching, I never really got that. You know when people talk about, “this is what I was put on this planet to do” and I one hundred percent know that I’ve found that now. And if you’re listening and you’re wondering if maybe you haven’t found yours, well maybe you haven’t.

It doesn’t mean that you have to start a totally different business or anything like that, but it’s really about uncovering what lights you up and what really makes you feel super happy. And whenever I do this exercise with clients of mine, what quite often we find, is there’s parts of what they do that they love. For example, some people love creating. They love drawing. They love making things look beautiful. Maybe they love creating websites. Maybe musicians love to create music and that’s their favourite, favourite part. And that’s fantastic to uncover that.

And you might be thinking, that’s all well and good but I can’t run a whole business just based around the parts of it that I love and that’s totally true – you do need to do some things in your business that perhaps aren’t one hundred percent on your purpose or your passion, but that’s a whole other conversation.

What this is about, is it’s about uncovering what that looks like, and what is your higher purpose or your higher driver in business.

So, if you haven’t been through this exercise before, I’d really encourage you to step back and think about all of those questions that I asked.

  1. What would you be doing if you could be doing anything?
  2. Where would you be?
  3. Who would you be working with?
  4. What does your life look like in this ideal world?

Now a vision isn’t about.. this isn’t a time to put limitations on it. Because we all have the tendency to do this. “My vision is to be travelling around the world and I can’t do that because I’ve got kids and they’re in school and I can’t pull them out of school.” When you’re creating your vision, it’s not about looking at the why not’s, it’s about looking at the what if’s.

And you don’t need to put any limiting factors or any limiting beliefs onto it. It’s literally just about dreaming big. And thinking about what that big dream can look like.

It’s one of my favourite things to do with new clients. As I said, inside the Makers Membership, I did it last week and just seeing the looks on people’s faces when they uncover what their WHY looks like, is just so powerful and so enlightening to see people realising that maybe they need to do things a bit different if they want to get to where they’re heading.

So, talking about your vision and creating a vision is one of the most transformational things that you can do in your business. The other thing that I’d really love to challenge you to start thinking about, is a question I got asked in an interview I was in today. And she said to me, ”What is your superpower?”

Wow.

I really had to think about it for a second.

What is my superpower?

Now, I realised what my superpower is. And my superpower is helping people find the excitement in their business, because if you’ve listened to the podcast, if you’ve been following me on Instagram, you’ll know that I’m a very energetic, excitable person and I’m super, super passionate about what I do. I’m super passionate about helping my clients to find their passion. And I know for sure, that my superpower is helping other people find the excitement in their business, find their passion in their business. And then of course, helping them to actually implement that and create a business that they love, but the first step is actually uncovering what that is.

Now, you guys know a bit of a reality tv fan and I was watching this show last night – it’s called “Too Hot To Handle”. If you haven’t heard of it, I’m going to give you a brief overview. if you don’t like reality tv, you would hate this show, it’s totally trashy.

Basically, they put all these singles together in a resort and they give them the rule that they’re not allowed to touch each other. So there’s no kissing, no touching, nothing. They just have to try and form relationships purely on an emotional level. And if they do break the rules, if they do kiss or have any sort of interaction with each other, they lose money out of the prize pool. So there’s $100,000 prize and every time someone breaches the rules, that prize pool goes down.

Anyway, in the show, one of the things that they asked the contestants to do was to look at their “yoni”. As they called it. And I was like, what does that even mean?

And basically, they asked the women to take their underwear off and stand over a mirror and have a look at their womanly parts. And when they were describing this, I was thinking oh my gosh this is a whole new level of trash on reality tv. But when I watched it, and I observed the transformations that were happening in people, it was really a chance for them to embrace the power that is within them as females and that’s within all of us – if you’re a female listening, if you’re a male I’m sure it’s the same with your male parts but it’s really about identifying what is that power within you.

And the women weren’t describing their parts, they were describing, “I am a powerful woman because I have given birth through my yoni”. And some of them were saying, “I’m beautiful, and you know, I’m powerful and I shouldn’t just share myself with people. I need to respect who I am and only give it to people that value me”.

And that was what I took away from the episode as being really like, wow. These girls that I thought were going to be making crass comments about what they look like, were actually going through these transformations. And it really made me think about the power that we all have as women and as business owners. And again, I’d love for you to connect back with that question about what is your superpower?

Because once you’ve discovered what it is that you want, your big passion ,your big purpose, your big vision that really, really lights you up, the next step is to work out: Who are you? What role do you play? How can you step into that place and play that role? What gives you the right to step up and live out that vision?

And when you uncover what your superpower is, or what your yoni is, as I am saying, you really start to go, “this is why I was put here. This is why I am worthy of that success.”

And so, I would really love each and every one of you to step back and think about your superpower as well.

Think about how you can show up as that best version of you.

And again this week I had a chat with my coach about what you’re like when you’re in your best state.

Now I remember when I very first met my husband. You know, I had guys, I was dating a lot. I had guys always coming up to me, asking me out, I kind of had a few different things on the go. And when I met my hubby, I had this, I don’t know if it was a glow about me, but, you know, I was just like hey I’m in my stride, doing my thing. And I know that’s what magnetised him towards me. Because I wasn’t showing up as that desperate, single person. And look, if you’ve spent much time being single you’ll know what I’m talking about.

There are times, sometimes, when you put up with a lot of crap and perhaps give people a chance who really don’t deserve it. Because you’re a bit lonely and you’re not in your flow, and there’s not really a whole lot going on, maybe you haven’t dated for a while and haven’t been out on a date in a while and you just think, oh I’ll just go take what I can get.

And then there’s other times where you’re like, no way! I am a powerful, beautiful, attractive woman and I deserve nothing but the best and I’m not going to settle for anything less than that and men are attracted towards me.

And it’s the same in business and you guys will know what I’m talking about.

Do you know when you’re in that state of flow, and you’re sharing messages, you’re sharing content, you’re showing up on your social media. Maybe you’re not even doing that. Maybe you’ve just got that flow about you where your dream clients are coming to you, you’re quoting them really high prices and they are super happy to pay them because they are just magnetised towards your energy and they really, really want to be working with you.

Right?

You guys will know what I’m talking about here.

So, I think that finding that place where you are in your power and you’ve got your stride, is such an amazing way to be attracting the right kind of clients, who are happy to pay the right kind of prices into your business. So something to really think about.

And on that note, if you’re not in that space, if you’re in a space of scarcity, of fear, if you’re like, “I’m doing all of the work and I’m posting all the stuff and I’m sending all the stuff and why is no one buying from me”, it’s really hard to look outside of that when you’re in it. Because that feels like your truth, it feels like your world, right?

If you want to flip back to being that attractive, hard to get, kind of, you know be in that flow space, it’s about remembering who you are when you’re in there. It’s about remembering who you are when you’re in there and almost like, not faking it till you make it, but going, what was I doing at that time?

I was showing up like this. I was being this kind of person.

I wasn’t coming at my business from a state of desperation, I was coming at it from abundance. And I assure you, I see this with my clients all the time. Where energy goes, energy flows. And when you start to get your mojo and you start to get your flow, and you’re putting your messages out there in the right kind of way that’s attracting your dream clients who are happy to pay the prices that you want to charge, you will attract more and more. Because that energy just keeps flowing and it keeps those clients flowing to you.

So.

Today I’ve just literally spoken from the heart. I’ve got no script, I didn’t really have much of a plan, but there are a couple of key things that I’d love for you to take out of this episode.

Firstly, step back and dream sometimes.

If you are in business and it feels like hustle, hustle, hustle, I‘m so busy, I don’t have time for all the things, well, step back and remind yourself, what are you doing this for? What do you actually want to do? What was your big dream for your business?

Step back and get excited about that, that big end goal, that vision. The what if. What is possible? What is possible if you don’t place any of the limitations on yourself that we often do?

The next thing is really think about your superpower.

Who you are at your core, and why people choose you over any other business? What is it about you? What’s your yoni? What’s your superpower? Why do people really want to work with you? Because that will form part of how you can share your message with the world.

Which brings me to my last point, about putting your energy out there and showing up as the best version of you. I think that your superpower is a massive part of that, and if you’re super clear about why you, then you step into a space of confidence. And even if you don’t feel confident, create confidence in your actions and replicate who you are in that state.

Because that’s how those dream clients will come to you, the dream opportunities will present themselves for you and your business will start transitioning towards  that big, amazing vision and dream that you’ve got for your business.
