Have you noticed that some people just seem to make, hold and grow their money with ease and yet other, really smart people, perhaps you’re one of them just can’t seem to make or hold or grow money in the same way. In today’s episode of the podcast, I’m going to share with you how you can become a money magnet.

So talking about becoming a money magnet, the first thing I want you to think about, are you placing money on a pedestal? What do you think that more money will do for you? Do you think it will make you more attractive? Do you think it will make someone finally love you? Do you think that when you have money, you’ll then become a really generous person and you’ll give to charity and you’ll help other people out? You really make a difference. Before we go into the energy behind that, I want you to think about another time that perhaps you’ve placed a goal on a pedestal.

And let me share an example with you from my own life. When I was dating my husband, we’d moved in together and I was ready for the proposal. I remember a girl at my work got engaged. And I would stare at her ring, like we’re in meetings, I would embarrassingly just stare at her ring and I think she is so lucky. When I get engaged, I’ll walk around with my ring and I’ll stare at it all day. And everyone will know that someone wanted to marry me. I remember that every trip my hubby and I would do, one particular one, we’re at the Great Wall of China. And I was like, he’s definitely going to propose today. And I kept trying to create scenarios where you could sit down and propose to me.

Another example, I can think it was our anniversary and we went out to this beautiful restaurant for lunch and he said, yeah, let’s catch the bus. We’re going from one side of town to the other. And I thought, Why are we catching a bus to my engagement proposal? He should be hiring me a limo. And of course, the reason we weren’t actually getting engaged at all, I would constantly have my hair blow dried anytime that we were going out for dinner or doing anything like even on my holidays, I’d constantly be ready for that magical moment when my life would change and make sure my nails were done.

Anyway, long story short, we ended up eloping and didn’t even have a big proposal anyway. And when I got my ring, it was really amazing and really special. And, you know, I loved The fact that we’d gotten married, but you know, 10 years on long story short, I hardly ever even wear my wedding ring. I do try and wear it. It kind of started because when we had kids, I used to get this rash underneath my wedding ring cause you know, you’re washing your hands and sanitizing your hands all the time. And because I work from home, I just got out of the habit of wearing it. So. I’ve lost my wedding ring so many times, once for three months. I’m not even joking. I was going through an insurance claim process because I thought that I wasn’t going to find it again, but thankfully it did show up. You know how in gossip magazines and they’ll often say this couple’s on the rocks because the person was spotted with, without a ring. Well, don’t use that as a gauge for me, whether I’m separated or not, because I’m rarely wearing it.

Anyway, I know that was a bit of a long story, but the point is this, when you first get to a goal, it’s amazing. And you know, I’m still incredibly grateful and happy to be married to my hubby. But the ring that I thought would be the be all and end all of my happiness and symbol to the world about my love, is now not really that important to me.

And it’s the same in business. I know that when I’ve hit a new money goal in the business, it’s amazing. It’s incredible. And you celebrate. And then pretty quickly it becomes your new normal. I know that often I’ve bought a bottle of champagne to celebrate hitting a big goal in the business. And then it’s sitting there and then we think we don’t really want to open a whole bottle on a Wednesday night. So let’s crack it on the weekend with some friends. And then weeks can pass before we’ve even celebrated something that we thought would be a game changing milestone for us.

The reason I share all of this, if you want to become a money magnet, stop placing money on a pedestal.

Yes, money can buy you freedom and experiences, and it absolutely gives you more choice, but money won’t give you a feeling that won’t make you more lovable. It won’t make you feel more confident or grateful if you don’t already have those feelings. Now, when I become a money magnet, stop placing money on a pedestal, which is kind of related to the second thing that I want to share, which is about the art of detachment.

I went through a period of time. Let me just backtrack a bit. I was with my first boyfriend for six years. And after we broke up, I moved to London. While I was in London, I was having a grand old time and, traveling and having fun. And then when I moved back to Australia, I realized, Oh my gosh, I am on my own and I wanted a boyfriend badly and the life of me, I couldn’t meet anyone. Now my brother was my flatmate at the time and I kept saying, why doesn’t anyone love me? And my brother being my brother gave me some really helpful advice, which is this. He said, you reek of desperation.

Compare that to the time when I met my hubby, many years later. And by that time, it’s not that I’d given up on love, it’s just that I wasn’t looking for it. I’d reached a point in my life where I was really happy with my life as a single person, I really was in love with my life. I was really happy and fulfilled and not at all lonely in my life. And when I met my hubby, he’s like, I was meeting so many husband hunters. And then you came along and just seemed very chill. And I’m like, that’s because I was, I wasn’t desperate for someone anymore.

Now it’s the same when it comes to money. Have you ever had a sales call where you were like, if I don’t land this client, I cannot afford my rent?

How’s the energy that you were showing up to that call? It’s not really almost magnetic energy, is it? And similarly, I’ve been on the other side of one of those calls where someone seems so desperate for the sale kind of turns you off as compared to the times when you don’t need the sale. I know now when I’m having calls with potential clients, I, the flow of the vibe of the conversations like this, Hey, I know you’ve got a problem, I’ve got this thing that can help, do you want it? And you might think it’s easy to not have that energy when you aren’t desperate for money. I get that. But you are creating the emotion around your financial state regardless. I’ve had clients of mine who were literally like, I have to get these or it’s all doomed. And I’m like, well, you do own a house. I mean, you could pause the mortgage repayments. You could take out a loan. You could move in with your mom and rent out your house. And I mean, to be clear, I know this isn’t ideal, but the point I’m trying to make is that you can show up in a different energy when you recognize that you have options.

When you remove the emotion around money in any way, whether it’s selling or attracting it into your business or life in other way.

The last thing that I want to share in this space of becoming a money magnet. And this is one that took me a bit of a long time to, to figure out, which is to focus on service and not sales.

I’m a qualified accountant by trade. And when I first got started in business, everything was like the numbers in spreadsheet, it was hitting my sales target. And I don’t want to detract from setting goals and setting targets. If you are so focused on a number, sometimes you can forget to serve. You’re so focused on getting the sale across the line. And that is not a magnetic energy. Now, if you watch me going through a launch or a sales process, I’m still going to show up and sell. Because I know I can help. I have these amazing products and services that I truly believe can help people transform their lives. So, yes, I’m going to show up with that kind of energy. I want to help people.

When you have the focus on how you can help people rather than the dollar amount, that is when I have found that money truly flows when you have that detached chill kind of energy towards money. It really is a magnetic energy, both energetically and also in a practical sense, like the example I shared when you were selling from a place of desperation as compared to a place of service.

Thank you so much for tuning into the episode. If you enjoyed this, make sure you share it with a friend, post it on your social media, and hopefully I’ll see you inside the challenge. Have a beautiful and magnetic week.
