A client asked me in a call yesterday, what have been the big game changes in business for me? And I thought it was such a fantastic question that I wanted to pop in here to the podcast and share the answers that I shared with her, with you, the listeners. So that if you are wanting to achieve big growth in your business, you can implement some of these changes into your very own business too.

Hello and welcome to the Clare Wood podcast, where myself and incredible guests share about money mindset, financial successes, and how to manage your money in a fun and practical way to create wealth and abundance in both your business and your life. I’m your host, Clare Wood. I’m a business coach and a money mentor. I strongly believe that money has the power to positively change the world. I can’t wait to help you transform your mindset around money, create a love of numbers, and build the business of your dreams so you can live a life of financial freedom, giving, and global impact.

Before I get started on today’s episode, I wanted to do something I haven’t done for a while here on the podcast, which is to shout out someone that’s left a review on the podcast. Everyone that takes the time to do it, I want to let you know that I am so, so grateful because it means that more people might be able to find this podcast and have some shifts as a result of listening. So I appreciate you taking the time. So today I want to shout out Ally from Made For More and her review says, “I love today’s episode. I’m a mom of four and so inspired to get some time back with my tiny people. Thank you, millionaire Maddy.” And I know the episode that she’s talking about there so make sure you go and check out that episode with Maddy Avery.

So today I’m going to be chatting about my big business game changes that I use, not only myself in business, but these are the strategies that I use with my VIP coaching clients. And I think there’s going to be some pretty powerful lessons in here that you’ll be able to use to get some big shifts in your business too.

Marketing in a consistent and strategic way

The first business game-changer that I want to share with you today is showing up in your marketing. Now that might sound pretty obvious, but from my experience as a business coach, a lot of people don’t feel in control of where their next clients are coming from. An [inaudible] for me, this was definitely when my business was a few years ago as well. So taking back the reins in how you are magnetizing your dream clients is such a powerful way to shift your results of your business.

So first and foremost, let’s check in. Do you actually have a marketing strategy in place? What are the ways that you find new clients and then how do you cultivate those relationships through know, like and trust so that these people eventually become paying clients of yours? When you have first of all defined what your marketing strategy looks like, the next thing is that it comes down to execution. The theory is all well and good, but the rubber really hits the road when you put these plans into action. I know how scary it is to show up in your marketing. I know how time consuming it is. But I also know that it’s really challenging for potential new clients to find your business when you’re not putting it out there at all.

So once you’ve decided how you want to show up, it’s really about getting out there and making it happen. Perhaps it looks like showing your face on your social media. Maybe it looks like emailing your list more consistently. Maybe it looks like showing your face more in your brand and your marketing. Whatever it looks like for you, showing up consistently in your marketing will be a massive game changer in terms of the results that you achieve in your business.

Do the mindset work

Hand-in-hand with up-leveling your marketing is up-leveling your mindset. Because one of the biggest obstacles that people have when it comes to their marketing is getting out of their own way. We have a whole bunch of fears that come up about putting ourselves out there. Maybe we’re worried what people will think. Maybe we’re worried that we’ll say the wrong thing. Maybe we’re not even sure what the message is that we want to share with potential clients. I’ll tell you one thing for certain, if you aren’t taking steps forward, you are essentially taking steps backwards. So this is why the mindset piece is so, so powerful and why I really encourage you to step out of your own way and move through the fear so that you can start to show up more consistently in your marketing, because it will be a big game changer for you in your business.

Do energetic and spiritual work

Following on from that comment around the mindset work, I really believe that the energetic work that I have done and that I really encourage my clients to do is the next big game changer when it comes to getting really huge shifts in your results in business. So what does the energetic work exactly mean? This is stepping back from the plain black and white of strategy and leaning into that really powerful, intuitive, energetic side of business. I truly believe that spirituality, and or energy, play such a massive part in attracting your dream clients and attracting the money that you desire to create in your business.

I’ve shared many times on the podcast, what some of these practices look like and truthfully, I don’t think that there’s any right or wrong here. It’s really about finding practices that work for you and that feel in alignment for you. Some examples of this might be doing breath work, doing meditation, doing energetic work such as Reiki healing or kinesiology. There’s a whole different range of tools that we can use in this space and ultimately it’s about finding something that enables you to shift to a new energetic level, because when you are vibing high, you will be attracting next level results. So I really believe that doing both the mindset work and the energetic or spiritual work is another big game changer in business.

Creating scalable offerings

The next thing that I have done to create big growth in my business is to create scalable offerings. When I use the term scalable, so many times people think, well that means an online course, and I really don’t believe that’s necessarily the case. Courses are fantastic and yes, they can be a really powerful way to grow your business, but there are plenty of different ways that you can skin a cat and scale your business offering. It’s really just about finding a way that you can scale that works for you. And I’m going to be sharing on a future episode some strategies for how you can scale your business in a way that feels really in alignment with you. So make sure you’re subscribed to the podcast so that you don’t miss that episode when it comes out.

How making ‘white space’ in your calendar

The next game changer I want to share with you today is something that I have used in my business and that I use a lot with clients of mine and I think you guys are going to love this one. It is creating white space in the calendar for strategic work and for marketing. In the past, when my business first started growing, I was riding the wave. I was booking in clients back to back some days. And I was so excited by the fact that I had new clients coming to me, that I was just working myself harder and harder and harder till I reached the point of overwhelm and nearly burnout. And unfortunately, so many times I chat to clients who are doing the same thing. We think if I just work harder, if I just squeeze more clients in, I know that I can make more money.

But the problem is with trading time for money is that we always reach a cap because there’s only so many hours in the day. And what then happens is we’re scrambling to get on top of our marketing, on top of the strategic work, on top of our outreach, on top of all those other things that we need to do as business owners and as a result, we’re stagnating in our results because we don’t have the time to step back, think strategically and do those pieces of work that are really going to shift us into a whole new level. So one of the ways that I support my clients and something that I do myself is to strategically carve out space in the calendar where people can’t book your time, so that you can really step back and focus in on the needle shifting activities that you need to do in your business to really up level in a big way.

Why retreats bring big results

The next thing that I started doing at the beginning of last year is going on regular business retreats. Now, why is this such a game changer? I never really got the whole retreat thing to be honest. I sort of thought, so, you just go on a holiday. How is that business related? And as soon as I went on my first retreat, I suddenly got it. When you are grinding in the busy-ness of business, in your DMs, in your inbox, in client work, you never, ever really step back and dream. Your brain doesn’t have the opportunity to actually get really creative and to blue sky think about what it is that you’re trying to create in your business and your life. And when you stop and when you step away, that is where magic really happens. I have made it a practice to get away regularly and to give myself the time and space to dream, to create and to relax. And it’s something that I’ve been doing regularly and I’m committed to doing it even more regularly moving forward. So going on retreats has been another game changer for me.

Investing in a mastermind

And last, but certainly not least in my big business game changes, was investing in joining a mastermind. Obviously I am a huge fan of working with a coach that connects with you. And for some people working with a coach in a one-on-one capacity is exactly what they need, but there is something so powerful about being in a mastermind that can really shift the needle for you in business. Let me share a little bit more about what happened for me when I invested in a mastermind. At first, I’d found a coach that I really wanted to work with, but I wasn’t at the stage to invest with her financially. But I did see that she had a mastermind and I jumped on the opportunity to be in her energy and to be learning from her.

What I wasn’t expecting is that actually, a mastermind container is an incredible way to really start to shift your thinking. And the reason is that you don’t just have your coach there supporting you, but you also have a whole bunch of other business leaders who are doing really incredible things, who can share their advice, their support, and provide their feedback and opinions into how you can do things differently in your business as well. When I first joined my mastermind, I’m not going to lie, I felt so intimidated. People were sharing their massive monthly results in business and I wasn’t quite at that stage yet. But being around people that were, really started to normalize the results that they were talking about. And instead of feeling intimidated, I started to question, what are they doing and how can I start to achieve similar results myself?

It really pushed me to shift the way that I was showing up, to shift the way that I was doing business, and to show up with a renewed level of confidence. And as time went on, the results started to flow. And I shared with you guys many times on the podcast before, my business doubled in size from the start of last year to the end and I attribute a huge part of that to joining a mastermind. I am opening the doors to my own mastermind, the mind to money mastermind again very soon. And if it feels like a good fit, I would love to welcome you into the community.

Doors for the waitlist are now open, and you can join via the link in the show notes for today’s episode, but please bear in mind that this is a high ticket and a high level community. So at this point in time, it is only for entrepreneurs who are turning over a minimum of six figures a year in their business. I do have other product offerings that I can share with you if you’re not quite at that stage yet. So if the mastermind’s not quite a fit, make sure you do pop me a DM on Instagram at @clare_wood_coach and I can share some of the other ways that I can help you to scale towards the six figures so that you can jump into the mastermind at a later point in time.

So to recap today’s episode, if you are wanting to get a big shift in your business, I’ve used a bunch of strategies, both myself and with clients that I found highly effective in terms of leveling up in a big way.

  1. Marketing in a consistent and strategic way.
  2. Do the mindset work. What you believe is what you are creating.
  3. Do some energetic and spiritual work and really start to lean into the spiritual practices because sometimes there’s more than just the black and white numbers that we see on a page.
  4. Create scalable offerings. This doesn’t necessarily mean a course. There are lots of different ways that you can scale and I will be sharing more in future podcast episodes so keep your ears peeled for that.
  5. Creating a white space in the calendar for strategic work and marketing. This is so important if you’re wanting to get some next level shifts.
  6. Going on regular retreats to connect, get creative, get inspired.
  7. Investing in a mastermind. I truly believe that you become who you surround yourself with. So if you want to up level your community, it’s a great way to up level your results.
